Birthday Farm Animals

Here's a card that i've made for my friend's husband, whose birthday is coming up on Saturday...

These fun party animals are from Birthday Farm Animals by Simon Says Stamp.
I coloured them with promarkers, masked them off and sponged in some blue ink behind them.
The cow was stamped and coloured on another piece of card stock so that I could cut him out and pop him up with foam pads.
I added some dots to the cupcake case, and some wink of stella (clear) to the balloon and party hats.
The strip of patterned paper above the image is from Doodlebug's Hip Hip Hooray pad.

Inspiration Weds.

Wednesday means that it's time for a little mid-week inspiration for From The Heart Stamps.
This weeks twist for our sketch challenge is to make a shaped card, so I printed my birdbrain and sentiment quite large (the beauty of digital stamps eh?) so that I could cut around him...

The birdbrain is part of Martini Chicks, then I drew on a pair of Y-fronts, and coloured him with promarkers.
The sentiment is from Surprised Birdbrain, I thought it went well with this image.
I cut out the design, leaving a border around it, then stuck a piece of fun foam to the back for dimension.
I cut a card blank from navy card stock and trimmed it to make my shaped card.

Stamping florals

Last week I treated myself to 2 new stamp sets, well actually one of the sets was an old set by Stampin Up that i've always wanted & I found it for sale on ebay and just had to buy it while I had the chance.
The other set is a new by Altenew, called Vintage Roses. I've been dying to get my inky mitts on this set, it sells out so quickly. Infact, it's out of stock now from where I bought mine.

First the Stampin Up card, the set is called Vintage Vogue...

I die cut the card base using the largest die from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles set.
I stamped and cut out the flowers and leaves as I wanted the card to have a little dimension.
I used some old SU inks, lavender lace & mellow moss.
'friend' was cut using a word die by Clearly Besotted, and I finished the card with some sequins for a bit more texture and added sparkle.
This card is for a friend who will celebrate her birthday on Thursday.

I'm entering this card at:

and here is the Altenew card...

I kept this one simple too, again, using old SU inks. This time I used pretty in pink, regal rose, bravo burgundy, mellow moss, & always artichoke. I used pastel beige & satin promarkers to colour around the stamped images.
The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted, and was from a free set in a craft mag.
I added a bit of wink of stella (clear) to the roses after they had dried, which I know is always hard to capture in a photo, but looks so lovely in real life.
I die cut the dotty border using a die from Paper Smooches Dots & Dashes die set.
Simply layered with pink card stock, another piece of card stock coloured with bravo burgundy ink, and then glued to a card front.
I'm giving this card to my friend's mother, who also celebrates her birthday on Thursday.

Shake your tail feathers!

Good morning :)
I'd like to share a card i've made for my friend's daughter, who's celebrating her 24th birthday today...

I've used this fab stamp set by DigiStamp Boutique called 'Cluck cluck set'.
The sentiments shown are also with the set, and I've coloured the images using promarkers, ooooh I had so much fun colouring this up, I was singing whilst doing it, and I bet you can guess which song, lol ;)
The pink patterned paper is by Echo Park (Little Girl), and the purple spotty piece is by Dovecraft (Back to Basics).
I finished with flowers, cut using my Die-namics Flower & Leaf Trio die, leaves cut from green shimmer paper using 'In Stitches' dies by Clearly Besotted Stamps, and some card candi coloured with my pear green promarker.

Here's the inside of the card, this will raise a smile I think...

Flurry

Hello, it's time for a little mid-week inspiration for From The Heart Stamps.
Following on from our blog hop, I thought i'd use another Project 100 Snowmen image.
This time, i'm using our newest snowy guy, Flurry...

I decided to do something different with Flurry, I've paper pieced him using papers from Carta Bella 'Winter Fun' collection. I bought these papers as digital ones, so they are great to resize to make the pattern fit beneath this transparent format of Flurry.
Faith gives you 3 formats for her images in each purchase, a JPG, a transparent PNG, and a  white-filled PNG. She explains the differences HERE.
I opened up the papers i'd decided to use into my paint program, along with the transparent PNG version of Flurry. I used the image over top of the papers and cropped around the sections I'd need for each piece. After printing these out I cut out each piece, run a black marker along the edges then pieced it together onto my card base.
I finished by adding clear Wink of Stella over the snow, heart, nose and Flurry himself parts, just leaving the scarf and text paper without, and though you can't see this in my photo, in real life the extra shimmer it adds looks lovely.

Project 100 Snowmen Hop

Welcome to my stop on this month's From the Heart Stamps blog hop.

We have a Project 100 Snowmen theme this month. Our designers are showcasing lots of gorgeous snowy projects.
As you hop along, please leave a comment on each blog. One random commenter will be selected on each blog to win an image of choice from the FTHS store.

If you have arrived here from Imke, you are in the right place. If you haven't, why don’t you start at the From the Heart Stamps blog, so you don’t miss anything. The full hop list is there too.

Here's my card...

I hadn't gotten around to using this image until now, and thought how cool it would look as a shaker card.
I like the end result, but I made a couple of mistakes whilst putting this together.

My first mistake was that I added all my foam pads to the top piece before remembering to glue down the acetate, and as i'd used the pads close to the edge of my aperture to contain the sequins within, I had to take them off again, this is where I tried to pull off the first pad and found out that it had stuck hard, ripping my image a little when I took it off. This is why I added the felt holly leaves, the tear is on the snowman's scarf, which I covered with one of the leaves. I eventually cut through the foam pads with a craft knife close to the card stock, glued down the acetate and then glued down / reused the pads i'd cut away.
Also, I'd originally printed the image twice, my intention was to layer an image beneath the snowman so that the fringing at the end of the scarf could still be seen. It wasn't until I'd put the card together and went to take the photo that I realised that I'd forgot to sponge the 'sky' around this 2nd image, instead sponging a background on a plain piece of white card stock.

But, mistakes aside, I do like how this card turned out, and I would make it again (without mistakes!)

Supplies:
Image: Snowman Greeting
Colouring medium: Promarkers

Here's sketch #137...

Join in the challenge, and EVERYONE who plays will receive a $1 discount code for the store, and if you are the challenge winner, you will receive a $5 discount code to the store! :)

Remember though, you must use an image by From The Heart Stamps to be eligible, and please include a pic of the sketch in your blog post too. It's in the rules! ;)

Here's my card...

I've used Spectacular Birdbrain for this card, it was part of a fundraiser package you could get last year, so it isn't currently available to buy in the store, but it might be available one day.
The sentiment came with the image.
The green patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye (On the bright side), and the purple piece is from my scraps tub, it was from a stack of 12x12 individual sheets I bought years ago when I first started card making.
I finished the card with a punched heart.
